I care (a little) because it introduces noise in the package build.

Yes, tm should go away at some point.  I recall discussing this on 
xemacs-beta at some time in the past; I'll look for those emails.

Commit rights for tm would be great, as tm will be totally broken with 
MH-E 8 (my next big project).  I will double-check on xemacs-beta before 
making any drastic changes.

Why do we care?  tm should be obsolete with any Gnus released this
millennium.

Do you want commit rights to tm (or tm-gnus)?

tm sets gnus-signature-file, but neither Gnus 5.10.8 (the version we ship 
as the stable version) or 5.10.10 (which I just pushed) has a gnus-
signature-file.
