(I replied to your email foolishly thinking that would end up in the
issue. Oh well).

I don't know what to advise for Platform, sorry.

I've attached a copy of the article (which is an interesting read :-)).
Still can't reproduce the problem, but I don't use XEmacs with Windows.
I've put on my list to try with no-Gnus final, but I have no idea how
long it'll be before I get to it. You might want to ask on xemacs-beta,
to get more eyes looking at this.

Every time I do that, Stephen opens a tracker issue :)

When I first view the article, it's in raw HTML. Did you do any washing
on the article before the crash?

I have gnus configured to automatically download images and display html
using the gnus-w3m renderer.

Having looked at this some more, it seems that the non-ascii double
quote at the start of the subject is causing XEmacs problems as well.
Shame that I'm mule-ignorant.

I was reading the post titled 'How Advantageous Is Home-Field' as far as
I can tell from gdb.

This is with no-gnus head.

I'm attaching my installation file. (This is cygwin compiled, but with
msw gui. what should I put in the Platform field?)

Robert, could you add some more details, in particular

* XEmacs configuration information (e.g., a copy of the Installation
file, if you built XEmacs yourself)
* what you're using to read (Gnus? which version?)
* which blog entry you were reading

I just glanced through the entries for 29 February through 2 March
(gwene doesn't show any for 3-4 March), using Gnus 5.10.8 on XEmacs
21.5.31+0df3cedee9ac, x86_64, and I don't get a crash.

GDB backtrace.
msg2407 [hidden] ([hidden]) Date: 2012-03-04.10:51:53
I got:

Fatal error: assertion failed, file text.h, line 1153,
ibyte_first_byte_p_1 (* ((&((error_check_string (s, "text.h", 1153)-
>data_ + 0)[idx]))), "text.h", 1153)

I have the beast trapped in gdb if more info is needed.
